STB is a step up from the old pub favourite "Shut The
Box", in which you try and allocate dice totals across a number of switchable
tiles. It's ideal for the Psion or smartphone, with its graphics and digital
sound effects.
Although I originally designed it for children, to improve
their mental arithmetic while having a lot of fun, it's a good way for adults
to while away a train journey as well!

Series 80 version (Nokia 9500, 9210, etc.)
Download this here as stbseries80.zip (50k). (Thanks to Arjen Broeze for porting this version over)
When installing
OPL programs onto the Nokia 9300 and Nokia 9500, you'll get the standard 'This
application may not be compatible' warning. This is, of course, rubbish, and
can safely be ignored. |
If you haven't already done so, you'll also need to
install the OPL Runtime patch, from Symbian, which gives your communicator the
ability to run games and applications written in the OPL language. Get the OPL
runtime for the Nokia 9200 series here, the version
for the Nokia 9500 here. Please get
feedback and reports of any bugs to me as soon as
possible!
UIQ version (Sony Ericsson P800/P900, etc.)
Download v1.1 of the UIQ version here as
stbuiq.zip (104k). Once unzipped, you'll need to
install the stb.sis file in the usual way. If you haven't already added
it to your smartphone, you'll also need to install the MediaServer Opx
(OPL, eXtension, included in 'UiqAllOpx.sis'), which gives your smartphone
extra sound-playing functions.
If you haven't already done so, you'll need to have
already installed the free OPL 'runtime' on your smartphone. This is a small
and safe patch that gives your device the ability to run OPL freeware and
shareware programs and is highly recommended. You can even write your own, on
your device, should you feel ambitious! The download page for the OPL runtime
for UIQ smartphones is here.
[For would-be OPL/UIQ programmers: I've also put the
source code up for download (stbuiqsourcekit.zip, 13k), for you to
explore and get ideas from. The code is included in both plain text (.tpl) and
Symbian/EPOC 'Program' format, for opening in an emulator or on a real Symbian
device. Please note that I don't offer individual technical support for
programming issues. Please use one of the established groups or forums for OPL
instead! Start with AllAboutOpl.]
You can download STB 1.0 for the Psion Siena, Series
3a/3c/3mx directly from this web server as STB10.ZIP. You'll need 25k of disk space if you
want to install it with sound effects. When unzipping the distribution ZIP
file, please use the 'Include directories/folders' flag to make sure you get my
nice directory tree exploded onto your disk!
STB for the Psion Series 5 is here as
stb5v10.zip (18k)
